Spring 08 Casting

The primary purpose of the New Haven Ballet Company is to provide

additional performing opportunities for intermediate and advanced students

from both the Guilford and New Haven studios who wish to enhance their

training. The Company’s eclectic repertoire includes classical ballet, neoclassical

and hybrid ballet, modern, jazz, and other dance forms. Students

audition for NHBC in September and rehearse on a regular basis throughout

the year with Artistic Director Noble Barker as well as New Haven Ballet staff

members and guest artists. This year, NHBC will also have the opportunity to

participate in New Haven Ballet’s Shared Ability Project which will culminate

in a collaborative work for students with disabilities and Company dancers.

This year, the Company will be featured at New Haven Ballet’s Discover

Dance program at the Shubert Theater in late spring. Other anticipated

performances include a showcase at the ECA Arts Hall in mid-March, Arts on

the Edge, and The International Festival of Arts and Ideas. Long range plans

include the creation of a “Student” Company for dancers in the lower levels.
